USERS OF PSY COMPUTER TEACHING LABS:
We are progressing toward making the teaching-lab computers authenticate using UT-EID's, rather than the in-house generic logon system we have been using to date... what this means is that we will restructure the way that users of these classrooms (PSY 418, 458, stats, etc) logon to the computers AND access file-sharing... the old CLASS.PSY server that contained the INSTRUCTOR HANDOUTS, GROUP AREA, and PRIVATE folders will go away, and instead users will access the standard UT BLACKBOARD and WEBSPACE servers that most students and instructors already use for other courses...
If you are not already familiar with Blackboard, you will want to do so over the Summer... these changes are necessary both from a required UT server security standpoint, and the long overdue need to make these classrooms more like those that students already use elsewhere....
The PSY 418 labs (SEA 2.114/2.122) will also be brought up to Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard), and whatever other software updates are available... we will continue to use SPSS 16.0 for Mac, but we are also making a gradual transition to Stata over SPSS, and hope to make it available by Fall as well...
